Photography has been a passion of his from an early age and has only taken this seriously as a career in recent years. He is based in Shoreditch and has a studio dark room in Hoxton Hall, East London. His work explores architecture, people and his East End.
Although Philip started his carreer as an Engineer he quickly changed direction to work with the pioneering art company eyestorm.com. Working with high profile artists and photographers.
He has particular emphasis on the print quality and using 'unfashionable techniques' & hand printing and make use of toners. These techniques can be achieved with computer software but using traditional techniques forces him to consider the work and to apply the right treatment.
He studdied black and white photography and printing techniques at Hackney Community college in Hoxton. Philip now rents a small Dark room on Hoxton street in East London.
'The aspect that most inspires me about photography as a medium, is when you look at an image, you arent just looking at a photograph. You are looking at a photograph of yourself and the photograph asks you questions about yourself. It could be a photograph of a blank wall but it could be my most personal message in the world.'
